It was a rough one to say the least for the DeQuincy Tigers as Hamilton Christian’s potent offense led by their highly recruited star player Javon Vital scored early and often against the Tigers and never looked back.
The game was originally scheduled to be played in Lake Arthur but after six inches of rain fell in the Lake Arthur area late Wednesday night. The decision was made around 7 a.m. Thursday morning to move the game to DeQuincy although it was still technically a home game for Hamilton Christian. The Tigers still wore their road jerseys despite playing on their home field.
Despite the loss, we would like to recognize the faculty and staff at DHS for the excellent teamwork during the last minute venue change. It was described as a week’s worth of preparation done in just seven hours which varies from concessions, to preparing the game field, to setting up the security and everything else that goes into hosting a football game. Well done DHS!!
