Arlene LaCroix was born Oct. 7, 1933, and passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at the age of 91.
Arlene found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sitting with a cup of coffee on the front porch, where she often listened to her cherished windchimes. Each week she looked forward to reading the DeQuincy News, staying connected with her community. She was a wonderful cook, and her Sunday dinners brought the family together. Above all, Arlene loved her grandsons deeply, they were the light of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Dwana Jones, and husband Rodger; grandsons, Brian Jones and wife Toni, Brandon Jones and wife Sarah, and Blake Jones; great-grandchildren, Dylan Elliot, Bradley Jones, and wife Sara, Brooke Jones, and husband Dylan, Justin Jones, Josie Jones and Bella Jones; great-great-grandchildren, Karter Jeansonne and Kason Jeansonne.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dearnold LaCroix and Doug Lacomb; sons, Walter “Bud” LaCroix and Billy LaCroix; sisters, Betty Groves, Joann Herbert, and Margaret VanWinkle; and parents, Alex and Idell Powell.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Wednesday Sept. 3, at Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Carlton Jackson will be officiating. Interment to follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
