Micah Reed Schmidt was born on June 11, 2003, and was taken from us unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at 22 years old.
Those left with broken hearts are his Dad Wendell and Mama Sondra K., his son, Zy two years and daughter, Ella Rose one year. Companion and mother of his children, Shunti; brothers, Jesse and wife Azia, children, Allie, Benjamin, and Jeremiah, Matt and wife Katelyn, children Mia, Oliver, and Edison, Levi, and wife Jandy, child Van, all of Deridder; sister, Laura, and husband David Unruh, child Lewis, from Grandview, Idaho; along with special Uncle Jeff and Aunt Gwen and cousin Hayden; Papa & Granny, Uncles and Aunts, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his little brother, Joshua Wade; Grandpa Tracey; Aunt Shannon; and an infant nephew, Timothy.
The family received friends from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, at Highland Mennonite Church, 171 Mennonite Church Loop, DeRidder. Interment followed at Highland Mennonite Cemetery in DeRidder.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
