THE CITY council of the city of DeQuincy met in regular session on the above date in the city hall council chambers located at 300 Holly Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana, with the following members present: Jim Smith, Eddy Dahlquist, Cameron Smith, and Margaret Brown. Scott Wylie absent.
Council Member Eddy Dahlquist called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Smith gave the invocation, and Jim Smith led the pledge of allegiance.
A motion was made by Jim Smith and seconded by Cameron Smith to approve the April 8, 2024, regular meeting minutes. Without objection, the motion was carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report was in the file. As of April 30, 2024, the overall total revenue, actual year to date is $3,977,710.51 with the FYE 9/30/2024 budget being $6,650,200.00 and a remaining budget of $2,672,489.49. The total expenses, as of April 2024, actual year-to-date total is $3,426,878.94 with the FYE 9/30/2024 budget total expenses being $9,162,520.00 and the remaining budget of $5,735,641.06.
REPORT
Fire, Police, Code Enforcement, Public Works, and Sewer reports were in council files. There were no questions or comments from the council.
City Report
? May 27, 24 there will be a program at the Veteran’s Park @ 7 pm
? May 25, 24 there will be an event at the Railroad Museum awaiting the Steam train from 9-2. Farmers market was successful.
A motion was made by Cameron Smith and seconded by Margaret Brown approving the May 13, 2024 agenda. Without objection motion carried.

Vance Perkins thanked the City for all the repairs that have been completed at the Railroad Museum. It all looks great and is appreciated.

A motion was made by Jim Smith and seconded by Margaret Brown to authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the City of DeQuincy to renew the maintenance agreement with DOTD for mowing and litter pickup for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2024.Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Margaret Brown and seconded by Cameron Smith to postpone the introduction of an ordinance and set a public hearing for June 10, 2024 regarding the abandonment of an alleyway in Wasey Subdivision. Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Jim Smith and seconded by Margaret Brown to introduce Ordinance and set a public hearing for June 10, 2024, amending the Noise Ordinance. Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Cameron Smith and seconded by Jim Smith to postpone the introduction of an Ordinance and set a public hearing for June 10, 2024 to purchase property on William Still Road. Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Jim Smith and seconded by Margaret Brown to adopt a resolution for Mayor Smith to appoint two people to serve on the board of directors to the Louisiana Municipal Natural Gas Purchasing and Distribution Authority to serve for four years. Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Margaret Brown and seconded by Cameron Smith to postpone the approval of a variance for Trina and Cyrus Pullard regarding placing a small home on their property at 222 Jackson Street that does not meet the size requirements, and also more than one dwelling on the property, in the City Ordinance. Without objection motion carried.
A motion was made by Jim Smith and seconded by Cameron Smith to authorize Mayor Smith to accept the bids on following surplus vehicles:

There being no further business, Margaret Brown made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Cameron Smith and carried.
