Cecil “Buddy” VanWinkle was born Apr. 17, 1944, and passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at the age of 79. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Buddy was a faithful member of LifePoint Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his brothers, Jerry “Shanks” Vanwinkle, Jeril “Shorty” VanWinkle and wife, Evalena, and Robert “Red” VanWinkle and wife, Nancy; and sister, Dorothy Beckwith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Perkins VanWinkle; father, Robert VanWinkle; mother, Lottie Mae Phillips VanWinkle; and sister, Della Mae Craft.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields. Rev. Marshal Baggett and Rev. Carlton Jackson, Jr. officiated.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
