LaVonne Hodges Julien was born Jan. 13, 1955, and passed away Thursday, Mar. 26, 2026, at the age of 71.
She was a sacrificial and faithful servant, devoted to her church and her community. A longtime member of both FUPC and TPC of DeQuincy, she loved working at the church and poured her heart into everything she did there. She was strong in her faith and in her life, and she brought joy to those around her with her playful spirit as a bit of a prankster. Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love will always be remembered by those who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Wayne Julien and wife Valorie, and Christina Julien Greer and husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Delia Julien, Levi Julien, Judah Greer, and Micah Greer; siblings, Rodney Alston and Samuel Hodges; along with numerous other friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Anne Alysse Julien; and parents, Bud Hodges and Bonnie Faye Cryer.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m., Thursday, Apr. 2, at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith St., DeQuincy. Interment to follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
