Tigers torch Lions

By Jacob McCoy

It was a very intense and interesting ball game to say the least last Thursday down in Vinton as the DeQuincy Tigers took on their own rival, the Vinton Lions in a big district 4-2A match up.

A lot of talk and buzz surrounded Vinton ace pitcher and McNeese State commit Gage Guidry as many teams so far this year have struggled to hit off of him. But not this group of Tigers as they were completely motivated and played with a chip on their shoulder. They show showed no fear collecting 11 hits against the Lions top arm.

Turner Rodriguez was fantastic on the mound only allowing one run on two hits and struck out 7 batters.

Noah Pettifield was 4-4, Turner Rodriguez was 2-4 with an RBI, Kahle Miller was 1-4 with 2 RBIs, Bryce Dyson was 1-3, Jeremy Gatlin Jr. was 2-3 with an RBI, and Tucker Goza was 1-3 with an RBI.

DeQuincy 5, Vinton 1
