Kirk Young

Kirk Perry Young was born in Eunice. on Jan. 14, 1955, and entered into eternal rest on Monday, Mar. 16, 2026, at the age of 71.

A kind and gentle soul, Kirk was devoted to his family and cherished the time spent with them. He had a big heart, and you rarely heard him complain in spite of all the obstacles he faced over the years. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors; in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly looking forward to squirrel season for the annual camping trips with family and friends. A true food connoisseur, Kirk never met a meal he didn’t like. His passion for music spanned all genres, but his enthusiasm for KISS was unmatched, as evidenced by his complete collection of their albums and posters. The annual Railroad Festival held a special place in his heart, and he eagerly anticipated the weekend festivities each year.

He is survived by his sisters, Cynthia Young Smith (James “Jim” Smith) and Naomi Dufour (companion Danny Myers), as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Juanita Young.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at High Hope Care Center for the loving care and compassion shown to Kirk since 2013.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Mar. 18, at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy. Rev. Terry Smith and Rev. Wayne Neyland will be officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
