Louis Jefferson Freeman, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, in a local hospital.
A native of Orange, Texas, he had been a resident of Vinton for nearly 50 years. He was a welder by trade and retired from Huber Carbon Plant as an Operations Supervisor after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a longtime member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #364 in Vinton, where he served in many positions over the years and was raised a Master Mason. He served the Vinton Lodge for 26 years until his passing.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Freeman; daughters, Carolyn Kay St. Julien (Lloyd), Sondra Freeman Kennedy (Virgil), and JoLynn Davis (Michael); siblings, Ruben Freeman and Myrtle Freeman; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Freeman; his mother and stepfather, Ruby Lucille Hebert and Fred Hebert; and four siblings.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 29, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Shon Shelton officiated.
