ORDINANCE NO. 1002
The City Council of the City of DeQuincy, State of Louisiana, met in regular session on the 12th day of January 2026, and adopted the following Ordinance to declare property as surplus that is no longer needed and to allow the property to be sold through the bid process.
WHEREAS, the City of DeQuincy owns certain property situated on or about Third Street, sometimes known as the Old City Barn, and is more particularly described to wit:

Hereinafter referred to as “the property.”
Whereas the city has not been able to find a use for the property that is practical and or that is worth the taxpayers’ costs to maintain; and
Whereas the City has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to sell said property as surplus the property: and
Whereas the City in compliance with La R. S. 33:4712 has had the property appraised and is now ready to sell the property, publish the minimum sales price, give notice to the community of same as prescribed by the foregoing statute.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF DEQUINCY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization: The City of DeQuincy is authorized to sell the property described as

Section 2. Property Description: The property to be sold is described as follows:

Section 3. Sale Terms: The sale of the property shall be subject to the following terms:
The property shall be sold to the highest bidder.
The minimum bid price shall be $30,000.00.
As is, where is, no warranties whatsoever, and certified funds are required at closing.
The sale shall be subject to the City Council’s approval.
Section 4. Advertisement: The City shall advertise the sale of the property in the official journal of the City of DeQuincy and/or other publications as required by law.
Section 5. Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
Said Ordinance having been introduced on the 8th day of December, 2025, by notice of Public Hearing having been published on the 7th day of January 2026, said Public Hearing had been held on 12th day of January 2026, title having been read and Ordinance considered, on motion by Bobby Dahliqust seconded by Margaret Brown to adopt the Ordinance. A record vote was taken, and the following result was had:
