Only in DeQuincy could a police department only have to arrest one individual over the New Year’s Holidays.
Our city remains one of the safest cities probably in the state. In the year 2025, under the leadership of Chief AnnaJo Haynes, we only had 22 felonies of which 21 were solved by the Detective Division. The remaining unsolved case involves a missing vehicle and is still being investigated. We did have one homicide which was investigated and solved by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office professional teams.
Sheriff Stitch Guillory and his men are to be thanked for their quick reaction in this matter. There were no known rapes or robberies reported. The felony crimes have decreased from 160 cases in recent years down to 22. This only happens because the DQPD operates under the “open windows” theory which is, investigate all crimes, no matter how minor. The DQPD would also like to recognize District Attorney Stephen Dwight and the men and women who serve under his leadership for the outstanding support they give to the DQPD and other cities in the Parish. His personnel are very professional and friendly to deal with. Also, very special thanks to Sheriff Stitch Guillory and his deputies who undoubtedly are the best in the state. Sheriff Guillory is always on the crime scenes and truly supports the DQPD in every way.
Finally, let’s all work together to make 2026 an even safer place to live and raise our children in. 2026 marks my last year as an officer. It will make 63 years in law enforcement. I have had many adventures and will continue to write about them. Happy New Year to all our citizens.
Be safe/wise.
