Darrell Ashy

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, in Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand for Darrell Warren Ashy, 73, who passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.

Warren, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late John A. Ashy and the former Bobbie Lou Stallcup. Warren devoted his life to the people he loved — his family first and always — and to a calling that allowed him to serve others with compassion, integrity, and heart. For nearly five decades, he worked as a criminal defense attorney in Acadiana earning the respect of colleagues, judges, and clients alike. He served as President of the Lafayette Trial Lawyers Association, President of the Cricket Club and taught Civil Litigation at the university level for approximately ten years. His legal career reflected the same qualities he carried into every part of his life: loyalty, fairness, and an unwavering sense of responsibility to those who depended on him. His career came to an end with an astounding reward of being recognized as Acadiana’s Choice Gold winner for Criminal Defense Attorney.

Above all else, Warren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Warren will be remembered not only for the impact he made professionally, but for the way he showed up for the people he loved; with steadiness, wisdom, and quiet strength. He had a dry, unmistakable sense of humor, often delivering perfectly timed one-liners, courtroom stories, or subtle observations that left those around him smiling long after the moment passed. His presence, guidance, and love will be profoundly missed.
