Patsy Ann Mahaffey was born Sept. 30, 1940, and passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at the age of 85.
Patsy was kind, funny, and loved her family with everything she had. She was the heart of the family and always cooked three meals a day for them. She loved her people fiercely, laughed easily, and somehow managed to find joy in almost everything. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music and being with her family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Roger Mahaffey and wife Julia, Wayne Mahaffey, Sheila Mahaffey, Sharon Ortego, and Shannon Baggett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Hyatt and wife Luis; and sister, Kay Alston and husband Rodney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Dorman Mahaffey; son, Brian Keith Mahaffey; granddaughter, Sonya Lynn Oretgo; grandson, Bryan Keith Baggett; parents, Horace and Mable Hyatt; brothers, Lynn Hyatt, Vernon Hyatt, and Rodney Hyatt; and sisters, Laura Hyatt and Carolyn Jo Hyatt.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Smyrna Baptist Church, 230 Smyrna Church Road in DeRidder. Rev. Frank Ott officiated. Interment followed at Smyrna Cemetery in DeRidder.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
