The monthly DeQuincy City Council meeting was called to order by Eddy Dahlquist on Monday, Nov. 10.
The Oct. 14, 2025 regular meeting minutes were approved by the council. Mayor Riley Smith mentioned that the Fall Festival on Oct. 30th was a great success and well attended. He thanked everyone that helped and the community for their participation. He also wanted to remind everyone of the Veterans Day Program to be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Park. The Farmer’s Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 and the upcoming Christmas festivities on Saturday, Dec. 6.
DeQuincy has it’s own Noise Ordinance. A concerned citizen who has made several complaints of being disturbed by loud music in his home was told he has the right to file a complaint under the Private Nuisance Law.
Temple Baptist Church, located at 310 LeBlanc St., was approved to put a modular building on the property.
The following Resolutions were adopted and approved:
1. Resolution for State Project #H016467 – General Aviation Maintenance 2025 at the DeQuincy Industrial Airpark.
2. The Joint Service Agreement with Calcasieu Parish Communication District (e911 service).
3. Renew the 10 year Site Lease Agreement with MCI/dba Verizon implemented in 1985.
4. To authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the City of DeQuincy and take appropriate action to commit to Water Sector Program Phase 2 and to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with the state and city Disaster Recovery Project.
5. To authorize Mayor Smith to advertise for Request-for-Qualifications for Engineering and Technical Service for the Calcasieu Parish DeQuincy Generator Project under FEMA.
Past property condemnations were listed and discussed to assess the final stages of completion.
New and upcoming property condemnations were also discussed.
DeQuincy Industrial Airpark
DeQuincy Industrial Airpark Manager Kyle Rainwater reported October 2025 Statistics:
Fuel: Revenue from fuel: $7048.23, gallons sold: 1650.64 gallons.
Operations: 536, 5 pilots used to courtesy car for various reasons.
