David “Cheese” Bernard Williams died Oct. 25, 2025 in a Houston, Texas hospital. He was born in Lake Charles.
A 1988 graduate of DeQuincy High School, he was a standout football player. He was a member of First Church of God in Christ in DeQuincy, where his musical journey began at just five years old, playing drums in church.
He was a member of the Masons and retired in 2017 from Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a conductor.
Survivors include his wife, Stacey Boyd Williams; two daughters, Shalonda Griffin (Alan) and Da’Stacia Williams; two sons, Dexter Norwood (Tedrea) and Jerrell Williams (Daysha); his mother, Virginia Annette Williams; sister, Crystal Mallett; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton and Janice Williams; and one sister.
His funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Pastor Mark A. Sanders Sr. officiated. Burial was in Community Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.
