Coker earned perfect score on LEAP Math exam

In an outstanding academic achievement, one student from DeQuincy Elementary School has accomplished what few ever do — earning a perfect score on the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) math exam.

Kasyn Coker, now a 6th grade student, was the only student in the entire school to achieve a perfect score last year. Not only did he make a perfect score, he was able to skip 5th grade and move straight to 6th because of his academic excellence. The LEAP test, which measures students’ mastery of state academic standards, is known for its challenging math section that tests problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical thinking skills.

“I’m so proud of him,” said Brad and Nicole Mathews. “He’s such a great kid and works hard in his academics!”

Teachers and administrators at DeQuincy Elementary were equally thrilled by the news. His dedication and enthusiasm for learning truly stand out.

When asked how he felt after hearing about his perfect score, he smiled and said, “Excited — and a little surprised!”
