Estelle Pitre

Estelle Whitman Pitre, 94, of DeQuincy, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.

She was born to her late parents, Robert and Ola Whitman on Nov. 12, 1930 in Alco. She moved to DeQuincy in 1951 where she raised a beautiful family for the remainder of her lifetime. She loved gardening, camping at Buffalo River, fishing and going to church. Estelle worked in sales all of her life.

She enjoyed traveling and collecting arrowheads. Estelle enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church where she served as secretary for several years. Her family were some of the early members when the church was started. Her loved ones meant the world to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Streams (Allen) of DeQuincy, Wendell Pitre (Missy) of Hemphill, Texas and Catherine Pitre Daiken (Mike) of Farmington, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Russell “Rusty”, LaDusta “Dusty”, Josh, Kerri, Kim, Bobbie Jo, Jennifer, Cami, Mathieu, and Kayleigh; twenty three great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; along with one great-great-great-granddaughter.

Estelle was preceded in death by her two husbands, Edward Damerell and Charles “Buddy” Pitre; her parents; two sons, Robert “Bobby” Damerell and Richard Randall Pitre; along with two brothers, Robert Whitman, Jr. and Woodrow Whitman.

A Celebration of Estelle’s life was held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Monday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. Bro. Mike Streams officiated. Visitation was at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Monday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Services were entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed with Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
