Janice Childress Parker was born June 5, 1951 and passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the age of 74.
Janice found joy in life’s simple pleasures and cherished the moments that brought her close to her family and community. She loved watching her grandsons play baseball on GameChanger, always cheering them on with pride. A talented cook, she delighted in preparing meals for her family, filling her home with warmth and love. Her curious and adventurous spirit led her to enjoy investigating, spending time at the casino with Paw, and playing bingo. She also treasured quite moments on her front porch, listening to her scanner, and browsing thrift shops for hidden treasures. Janice’s laughter, love and the special ways she connected with others will deeply be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John A. Parker Sr.; children, Angie Hardwick and husband Dave, John Parker Jr. and wife Tara; grandchildren, Brittany Michael and husband Clayton, DJ Hardwick and fiancĂ© Holly, Parker Hardwick, Jennie Parker, Jarrin Denton and husband Justin, Jonathan Parker and wife Amanda, Victoria McCoy and husband Josh and Tanner Rozell and wife Chelsey; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Michael, Cash Michael, Killian Denton, Kenlsee McCoy, Lilley McCoy, Ethan Vinatieri, Maddie Vinatieri, Zoey Parker, Brooklynn Parker, Dean Rozell, Ella Brady, Karter Denton and Kolt Denton; brother, Harry “Buddy” Childress Jr. and wife Anita; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rachel Childress.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday Oct. 8 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, 301 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams and Pastor Wayne Neyland will be officiating.
