Roderick “Rod” Ritter was born Feb. 17, 1959, and passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025 at the age of 66.
Rod loved playing basketball and playing with cars and trucks. He found joy in spending time with his friends and family no matter the occasion. He cherished the simple moments in life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his niece, Natocha Ritter and spouse Jill; nephew, Texter Ritter; along with two great nieces and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kinsey and Betty Ritter; sister, Melissa Steffen; brother, Damon “Tuffy” Ritter; along with 24 aunts and uncles.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Kim Hebert and the staff at Evergreen Health Services in Sulphur, for their excellent love and care provided to Rod.
The family will receive friends from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams will be officiating. Interment to follow at Cole Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St. DeQuincy.
