David Lynn Tinker, 85, of Vinton passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. He was born in Detroit, Mich.
He graduated from McAlester High School in 1958 and attended Southeastern Oklahoma University and McNeese State University. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving for two years before switching to the Air Force for another three years. He was a surgical technician serving in Spain and a member of the Spanish Paratroopers, making six career jumps.
He retired from Conoco after many years of service as a top operator and safety supervisor. He was a member of the Fire Brigade at Conoco and was a volunteer fireman for the DeQuincy Fire Department for a number of years.
He resided in Vinton and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Orange, Texas.
He is survived by his brother, Wiley O. Tinker of Calera, Okla.; wife, Judy Dyson Tinker of Sulphur; daughters, Susan Blount of Westlake and Sara Robertson and husband, Mark of Bossier City; son, Butch Tinker and wife, Kensie of Carlyss; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Jewell Coble Tinker.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 25, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Micah Drengler. Inurnment followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
