Syble Mae Gillis Nelson was born Sept. 12, 1949, and passed away Sunday, Aug, 17, 2025, at the age of 75.
Syble was a gentle soul with a kind heart and a quiet spirit. She was a woman who lived her life with quiet grace, always putting the needs of others before her own and finding joy in the simple things. Soft-spoken and thoughtful, Syble was known for her love of arts and crafts. She was an avid Walmart shopper. Most of all, she loved her family. Her devotion to her loved ones was unwavering, and she found her greatest joy in their company. Though she was a quiet person, her presence was deeply felt, and her gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Buddy Williams and wife Kimberly; daughter-in-law, Michelle Laird Elliott; grandchildren, Katlin Elliott and wife Dayne, Ami Graham and husband Blake, and Eleanor Nicole Williams; great-granddaughter, Olivia Jaide Graham; future great-grandson, Stetson Keith Graham; siblings, Linda Thomas, Rebecca Frazier and husband James, and Carol Renee Gillis; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Keith Elliott; parents, Lois and Wanda Gillis; and brothers, Marlin Gillis and Mark Gillis.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Elk Crossing Nursing Home staff for the excellent love and care provided to Syble.
The family received friends from 2 until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams officiated.
