Angels from DeQuincy help out Texas Hill Country Disaster family

Honda Brown and her son, Harley Ashworth, both of DeQuincy, are the angels of the week according to Cord Shiflet. They drove down from Louisiana on Saturday, Aug. 9, to donate a trailer for a flood family in the Texas Hill Country Disaster and they were back home by nightfall.

Shiflet said “Talk about a long day. I can’t say enough about the big hearts folks have to help perfect strangers.” Honda’s church raised a couple thousand bucks to go towards fixing up the trailer, which Honda did, and left a fistful of cash to share with the new homeowner to help them start rebuilding their life. Honda inherited this RV from her aunt who passed away three years ago—she said if her aunt were alive she would have driven it down here herself and loved to know it went to help someone who needed it.

Siflet said “We earmarked this trailer for the young woman with the 3 1/2 year old daughter—but shhhh! They don’t know yet. We have to get a water line fixed on Monday and then it will be ready for its new owners to live and love.

Honda and Harley … On behalf of all my friends in Texas and especially the families in need from the flooding … Thank you for what you’ve done. God bless you and your family.”
