Virgie DuBroc

Virgie Mae DuBroc was born Sept. 22, 1938, and passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Bell City, Virgie led a simple and fulfilling life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, cooking, and quilting. She loved to read mystery novels and watch Game Show Network! She never met a stranger, welcoming everyone into her home with open arms and a home cooked meal. She played many roles in her life as a wife, mother, god-mother, aunt, sister, and friend to many. Virgie will be remembered as the matriarch of her family, passing down her faith in God, family values, and fun-loving spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Allen DuBroc; children, Troy DuBroc and wife Christine, Tracy Ann DuBroc Hardy and husband Jeff, Travis DuBroc and wife Rhonda, Trudy DuBroc Bass and husband Wayne, Trena Catherine DuBroc Pearson and husband Levi; grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Kandice, Courtney, Katelyn, Hannah, Laken, Hunter, Cooper, Briggs, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Jacob, Kennedy, Jackson, Elliott, Logan, Lily, Finn, and Asher; and siblings, Beverly McFarlain and husband Alvin, Linda Gary and husband Charles.

She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Jacob Allen Bass; and parents, Andrew and Wayze Romero.

Pallbearers were Caleb Bass, Joshua DuBroc, Cooper Pearson, Liam Bray, Levi Pearson, Van Galjour and Travis DuBroc.

The family received friends at Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home for visitation on Tuesday, July 29, beginning at 5 p.m., and a Rosary was held at 6 p.m. We welcome the community to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Ragley, on Wednesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
