Warden Marcus Myers has retired after 34 years of service to the Louisiana Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections. Myers was the Warden at Raymond Laborde Correctional Center in Cottonport for the last five years. RLCC is the third largest multi-level security facility in the state, with approximately 350 state civil servants and roughly 1,900 adult men inmates. He began his career more than 34 year ago as a cadet a C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center in DeQuincy. He rose through the ranks, consistently demonstrating natural leadership abilities and a strong commitment to the field of corrections.
Myers stated, “I’ve taken great pride in witnessing the growth and accomplishments of the staff, inmates and the department as a whole; and I’m looking forward to the next chapter in life and excited to see what the future holds.”
Earlier this year, Warden Myers was one of 16 wardens recognized as Warden of the Year by the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents.
In 2024, he was awarded the Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Civil Service Award. These esteemed honors are a testament to Myers’ lifetime dedication and outstanding career service to his department.
Warden Myers is a native of Singer and DeQuincy and a 1989 graduate of Singer High School.
