Calcasieu Parish School Board provided this update regarding the School Nutrition Program for the 2025-26 school year:
Due to the natural disasters that impacted the area, all students in the district have been able to eat breakfast and lunch in the cafeterias at no charge for the last several years.
The USDA will no longer be fully covering the cost of meals for students who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch, so the district will be covering the additional cost of these meals next school year. This will ensure that all students continue to eat breakfast and lunch for free.
Students receiving warm, healthy meals is critical to their educational success, and it’s important to CPSB to do all they can to continue fueling hungry minds.
