Charley Thompson was born Feb. 13, 1946, and passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the age of 79.
He is survived by his children, Craig Thompson, Monique “Neicy” Thompson and husband Art, Rev. Cody Thompson and wife Christie, and Rev. Chane Thompson and wife Selena; grandchildren, Cortney Poole Anderson and husband Earl, Kelcey Poole Foster and husband Ethan, Dillon Thompson, Ceaton Thompson and wife Brooke, Chanler Thompson and wife Madeline, Gamma Thompson, Christian Thompson, Rian Thompson, Rylie Thompson, and Cullem Alexander Thompson; great-grandchildren, Devyn, Elliott, Collin, Case, Emerysn, Gabriel, Jonah, and Cohen; sister, Evelyn “Evie” Tanner; best friend and cousin Ed Smith; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Thompson; parents, Isaac McCoy Thompson Sr., and June Rigmaiden Thompson; children, Colton Thompson and Cevin Thompson; grandchildren, Daryl Alexander Thompson, Luke Thompson, Tracy Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ellie Scott Thompson, Cassidy Coltyn Anderson, and Evelyn Louise Foster; brothers, Issac “Cobby”, McCoy Thompson Jr. and Rev. James “Jimmy” Thompson.
Pallbearers were Christian Thompson, Chanler Thompson, Ceaton Thompson, Clint Thompson, Casey Thompson, Colby “Skeeter” Thompson. Honorary Pallbearer was Ed Smith.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, at First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Pastor Carlton Jackson Jr. and Rev. A. D. Spears officiated. Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
