On Friday, July 4, at approximately 10 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Allen St. in DeQuincy in reference to a shooting.
When deputies arrived they located Cortez D. Boston, 26, DeQuincy, deceased at the scene. Another individual, identified as Clint L. Mott, Jr., 20, of Sulphur, was also shot and had been transported to the hospital prior to deputies arrival.
The initial investigation revealed Boston and Mott began shooting at each other during an altercation. After further investigation, on Sunday, July 6, detectives issued a warrant for Mott’s arrest.
Monday, July 7, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Mott turned himself in at CPSO. He was arrested and is being booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with 2nd degree murder; and illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $900,000.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
