Ronald “Rollo” Lee Hollie Sr. was born Mar. 8, 1952, and passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the age of 73.
Ronald was a faithful member to First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He lived a life defined by giving, loving, and unwavering faithfulness. He was person of deep compassion, always willing to lend a hand, offer a listening ear, and provide support to those in need. He loved God and his family more than anything and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janie Hollie; children, Dedra Hollie Nixon and husband Mark, Ronald Hollie Jr. and wife Deedra, Heath Hollie and wife Dana; bonus son, Larry Meredith and wife Noelle; grandchildren, Emily Nixon, Aaron Nixon, Elijah Hollie and wife Kealey, Madison Hollie, Taylor Hollie Cryer and husband Taylor, and Dylan Hollie and wife Julie; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Hollie; and sister, Henrietta Foster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Naomi Hollie; and eight siblings.
Pallbearers were Ronald Hollie Jr, Heath Hollie, Dylan Hollie, Aaron Nixon, Taylor Cryer, Larry Meredith. Honorary Pallbearers were Allen Sigler, Elijah Hollie, and David “Toad” Foster.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Thursday, June 5, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at First United Pentecostal Church, 230 Smith St., DeQuincy. Pastor Carlton Jackson Jr. and Rev. Keith Rippy officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
