Geaux Big Red!

Ebarb overwhelms Singer

On Wednesday, Apr. 30, the Singer Hornets traveled to the Toledo Bend area to take on the Ebarb Rebels in the second round of the Class C playoffs.

The Hornets had a tough time trying to shut down the Rebels’ bats. Ebarb had 11 hits on the night and Singer only having 3. Ebarb scored in every inning however Singer did manage to scratch across two runs in 4th inning that brought life to the Hornets’ dugout. It would be short lived as Ebarb would shut the door and end Singer’s season by run rule in 5 innings 15-0.

Jasper Stephens was 1-2, Aiden Tompkins was 1-1, and Kyler Arndt was 1-2 with 2 RBIs.

We want to congratulate the Singer Hornets on a great season!

Knights will travel to Erath for 3 game series

The South Beauregard Golden Knights will travel to Vermilion Parish this Friday and Saturday to take on the Erath Bobcats in the LHSAA Division III Non-Select semifinals.

The Knights are coming in hot after back to back playoff series wins against Loreauville and Berwick.

Head Coach Jeremy Deville has his guys playing very good baseball right now as they are attempting to defend their state title from a season ago. It won’t come easy again as Erath Bobcat team who is just as good and playing at a high level. The Bobcats have never been this far in the playoffs as this is their best season in program history thus far. The Knights have an experienced edge on the Bobcats.

Both of these teams met up in a midweek game back on Mar. 11, in Longville. It was Erath that got the better of the Knights that night winning 15-3. The Knights will definitely be seeking a little bit of revenge for that loss.

Game one will be Friday at 6 p.m. while game two and if necessary game three will be Saturday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Good luck to South Beau this weekend!

DeQuincy and Vinton face off in quarterfinals

They say it’s hard to beat a team twice in a season. For the DeQuincy Tigers it’s a must win tomorrow night as their arch rival Vinton Lions will come to town for the LHSAA Division IV Non-Select quarterfinals.

DeQuincy and Vinton have split wins in district action with the Tigers winning 6-0 at home back on Mar. 20, and the Lions winning 3-2 in Vinton back on Apr. 8. The Tigers will not only look to redeem themselves from the 3-2 loss but more importantly punch their ticket to the state tournament for a third consecutive season with the goal of finally winning a state championship.

The Lions come in after a second round win over Logansport 3-0 and are in the quarterfinals for only the second time in school history with the first time coming back in 2001.

If the Tigers win tomorrow then they will play the winner of Welsh and Grand Lake in the semifinals next Tuesday, May 13, at McMurry Park Field 40 in Sulphur at 2 p.m. It would be an all Southwest Louisiana semifinal matchup.

First pitch tomorrow will be at 6 p.m. at Earl Treadway Memorial Field here in town. We are asking our community to please come and support these young men and pack the stands!

Geaux Tigers! Beat Vinton!
