Wayne Gurtwood Stains was born July 23, 1991, and passed away Monday, Mar. 17, 2025, at the age of 33.
Wayne had a big heart. He loved everyone that he met. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Lela Stains; father, Ernest Stains Sr.; siblings, Lewis Stains, Ernest “Doh Doh” Stains, LeeAnna Stains (Jeremy), Mike Burge (Serena), Lisa Burge (Loy); along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Moody Burge; stepfather, James Burge; maternal grandparents, Orvel Lee Moody, Anna Lee Beckworth Stains, and Willie Stains; paternal grandparents, Edgar Stains, Laverne Alston, and Linny Alston; and great grandparents, Barney and Lizzie Beckworth.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, Mar. 29, at Westgate Church in DeQuincy. Rev. Charles Braneff Jr. officiated.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
