John Robert Shannon was born Nov. 26, 1942, and passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2025, at the age of 82.
He is survived by his children, Kristy Foster and husband Shawn, Angela Benigar and husband Clint, Sabrina Shannon, Derwin McKnight and wife Christina, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Terry, Janet Williams, Candy Gray and husband Keith, Susan Moses and husband Timothy, Joey McKnight and wife Traci, and Heather McKnight; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Tommy Shannon, and Michael Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn McKnight Shannon; daughter, Kathy Andreas; and parents, John Lee Shannon, and Willie Mae Smith.
The family received friends from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Mar. 15, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at Riley Smith and Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Mike Streams officiated. Interment followed at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
