Daisy Arniece Cole, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025.
She attended Grand Avenue High School and then DeQuincy High school, graduating with honors in 1974. While in high school, she was a cheerleader, a member of the school choir and other extracurricular activities. She continued her education at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette (formerly known as University of Southwest Louisiana) where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Education in 1978 and at McNeese State University she received a Master’s Degree in Education. She pledged the Lake Charles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, through which she helped to organize a DeQuincy Chapter of the Delsprites.
She taught in several areas and parishes around the state of Louisiana including Calcasieu Parish and West Jefferson Parish.
She was appointed and elected to the DeQuincy City Council.
She is survived by one daughter, Margot S. Cole of DeQuincy; two sisters, Sherry L Cole Sims, of Gonzales, and Julia M. Avons of Spaulding, United Kingdom, two brothers, Ronald J Cole of Atlanta, Georgia and Leroy H Cole of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marjorie (Sis) and Leon Alvin Cole, Sr.; and one brother.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10-11 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in DeQuincy under the direction of James Funeral Home.
