Norma Jean Lyons Burleigh, 82, of Ragley died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 at her home.
She was born in Church Point. She spent her childhood picking cotton and working on a dairy farm when she wasn’t in school. She helped care for her six siblings: Gloria (Curt) Wimberly (dec), Eloise (Pat-dec) David, Elaine Nation (dec), Kenneth (Linda) Lyons, Deborah (Kazem) Mohajer, and Dwaine Lyons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdie and Louisiana Lyons.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley for over 45 years. She had served on the ladies auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Burleigh; children, Lou Alice (James) Barrow of Longville, Corey (Betty) Burleigh of Ragley, Stephanie (Donald) Leger of Ragley, Gracie (Martin) Torres of Carlyss, and Marshall (Kassie) Burleigh of Ragley; numerous grandchildren and great-grand-children.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Jeffrey Starkovich officiating. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church building fund in Burleigh’s memory.
