Spencer Davenport was born Apr. 20, 1941, in Shelby, Texas to Annie Maurice Bates Davenport and Elmo Webb Davenport, and passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at the age of 83. Spencer was a resident of Orange, Texas. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Starks for many years. In his later years he attended North Orange Pentecostal Church in Orange, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Nona Faye Legnion Davenport of Orange, Texas; sons, Martin Webb Davenport of Batesville, Ark. and Kevin Davenport and wife Hollie of Starks; grandchildren, Matt Davenport and wife Edith, Blake Davenport and wife Tiffany, Sharon Davenport, Lea-Anna Davenport; 15 great- and great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Davenport Wright and husband Alvin of Orange, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Martin Wayne Davenport; father, Elmo Davenport; mother, Annie Maurice Bates Davenport; and sister, Elmarie Holt.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, with the funeral service being held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at North Orange Pentecostal Church in Orange, Texas. Interment followed at Orange Forest Lawn in Orange, Texas.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
