Billy Gene McMurrough was born Oct. 24, 1940, and passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at the age of 84. Billy retired from the Goodyear Chemical Plant. He enjoyed working on cars and tinkering on lawn mowers. Billy loved his family more than anything and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 63 1/2 years, Patricia McMurrough; children, Susan Harris and Kenny McMurrough; grandson, Billy Gene Holmes and wife Tammy; honorary grandson, Joe Harden; great-grandchildren, Taylee Holmes and Brantley Holmes; and brother, Ronny McMurrough.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Ivy Ione McMurrough; brother, Bobby McMurrough; and son-in-law, Michael Harris.
The family received friends from 5 until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at Abundant Life Church, 12165 Hwy 75 N, Willis, Texas. Rev. Dave Stovall officiated. A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
