Tigers lose close battle

By Jake McCoy

The DeQuincy Tigers suffered their first loss of the season to the Erath Bobcats 30-28 last Thursday here at home.

Both teams played extremely hard and it was a neck and neck contest the entire way through.

DeQuincy had a 21-14 halftime lead but after an interception and being stopped short of the goal line the Bobcats retook the lead 27-21.

However Lindsey Joyce intercepted the Erath quarterback and returned the ball back to near midfield.

On the very next play Joyce finished what he had started as Carson Rainwater connected with Joyce for a 49 yard touchdown to put the Tigers back on top 28-27 in the 3rd quarter.

Erath would retake the lead with 1:29 remaining in the game when Erath kicker Eli Felipe nailed a 28 yard field goal.

DeQuincy could not convert on 4th down to keep the drive alive turning the ball over to Erath as they would take a knee to end DeQuincy’s winning streak.
