June Streams was born on June 4, 1934, in DeQuincy, and passed on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at the age of 90. She enjoyed traveling, attending Bluegrass Festivals, spending time with her family, going to church and was a wonderful caretaker of many. She worked as a legal secretary/notary until she was 86 years old.
June was a charter member of the Hargrove Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy. She was a loving Sunday school teacher for the seven- and eight-year-old children for sixty plus years.
She is survived by her son, James Craig Streams and wife Priscilla; granddaughter, Kim Rainwater and husband Nathan, and Kaysha Streitmatter and husband Robert; great-grandchildren, Kamron Rainwater and wife Maci, Kyle Rainwater, and Audrey Streitmatter; and sister, Delores Owens.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Matt Streams; parents, William and Ava Dickerson; son, Justin Streams and wife Shirley; brothers, Ernest (Cobby) Dickerson, William (Dinky) Dickerson, and Nathan (Jobie) Dickerson.
The family received friends at the visitation from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Hargrove Baptist Church, 1427 Hargrove Loop, DeQuincy. Visitation will continue Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 12 – 2 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Service will be officiated by Brother Vance Perkins, Brother Mike Streams and Brother Scott Streams. Burial to follow at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
