J. L. Sims Jr., 92, of Longville passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. He was born to his late parents, Johnie Lee and Prebble Sims on May 29, 1932 in Athens, Texas. He was proud of his military service in the United States Air Force for 20 years before he retired. He later worked at PPG Industries as an electrician.
He is survived by his children, Brady Sims of Kerrville, Texas, Tammy Midkiff of Longville, and Penny Dunning of DeQuincy; as well a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
J. L. is preceded in death by his parents; along with his brother, Travis Sims.
A Celebration of J. L.’s life was held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m., with Reverend Alexandria Giovanni officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home on Sunday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
