Gloria Dean Walker was born October 26, 1940, in DeQuincy, to Homer Edison and Katie Edison nee Hall.
She was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church where she once served in the choir. Mrs. Walker was a retired nurse at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles and was currently working at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Walker departed this life Thursday, Sept. 12, at 10:25 p.m. in a local hospital. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Dr. Regina (Rev. Dr. Stephen) Enwefa, of Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist of Baton Rouge, and of Emu Kingdom, Delta State Nigeria, West Africa; son, Rev. Ronald “Ronnie” (Earlene) Edison, granddaughters Earlene A. Watts, Oralene Watts, and Allen Andrew Watts of Breaux Bridge, adoptive son, Dr. Jalal Joudeh of DeQuincy and Lake Charles,grandson, Cartier Sam (Diana Perkins); son Ivan Kamara Sam; and she raised like her son, Marcus (Rosemary) LeBlanc, daughters Kamryn Leblanc and Karmen Leblanc of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Walker Sr.; son, Clarence Walker Jr.; and her parents. Her visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1:30 p.m. with her funeral following at 2:30 p.m., at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church located at 300 (Acme) Evergreen Lane in DeQuincy. Pastor James Harris will officiate.
Burial will be in Community Cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of James Funeral Home.
