Betty J. Gimnick was born Dec. 20, 1936, and passed away Saturday, Aug.17, 2024, at the age of 87.
Betty was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. She enjoyed art, cats, and gardening. She loved thrifting and going to garage sales. Betty also enjoyed all genres of music and traveling with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert Gimnick; grandchildren, Brad Gimnick and wife Tish, Brandon Gimnick and wife Wendy, Halee Jo VanAernam and husband Joshua, and Kristen Leger and husband Justin; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Mack Gimnick; son, Jim Gimnick; and parents, Wallace and Janet McCauley; and her dog, Gizmo.
Pallbearers will be Joshua VanAernam, Chad Cooley, Ronnie Pierce, Shawn Cooper, Justin Leger, and Brandon Gimnick.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Visitation continued from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, at First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. Interment followed at Alston Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
