Loraine Andrews Dalton, 98, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2024 in Birmingham, Ala.
She grew up near Dry Creek. After high school, Loraine moved to Lake Charles, where she attended Sowela Tech Business School. She worked as an accountant for Ira Dalton and in 1944, she married his son, Gordon M. Dalton. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 70 years and worked for 30 years as the financial secretary at the church until her retirement in October 1992.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Dalton Walding and husband, James of Naples, Fla., Martha Dalton Faull and husband, Jim of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathryn Dalton Taylor of Birmingham, Ala.; brother, Robert L. Andrews of DeQuincy; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Melvin Dalton; and parents, Barney and Mattie McFatter Andrews.
Her funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 10, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Randy Monroe officiated. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Lake Charles.
