Lawrence Joseph Legier, 77, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. He was born to his late parents, Eluse and Loraina Legier on Jan. 22, 1947 in Opelousas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and loved spending time with his family. He worked for Ray Franks Construction for about 15 years and enjoyed what he did. Lawrence also was an union ironworker for a number of years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Faye Legier; children, Christopher Legier of Merryville, Katie Legier of Ocala, Fla., Sondra Ann Patterson (Glyn) of Zachary, Terry Smith of DeQuincy, and Tony Smith (Cheryl) of DeQuincy; sister, Dorothy Milsted of New Road; eight grandchildren, Ryan Guidry, Timmy Guidry, Abby Guidry, Lily Guidry, Matthew Legier, Christy Lynn Bond, Casey Smith, and Haleigh Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty LeBlanc Legier; daughter, Tammy Parish; along with two brothers-in-law, Clarence Doucet and Jerry Milsted.
A Celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, on Thursday, May 16, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Anthony Kennon officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Bivens Cemetery in Merryville.
