Julius Carroll “Knot” Ardoin, 90, of Basile died Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Opelousas General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 14, at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, followed by entombment at the St. Augustine Mausoleum under the direction of Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile. Father Kennan Brown was the Celebrant.
He was a graduate of Basile High School, Southwest Louisiana Institute and Stephen F. Austin with a +30 master’s degree. After serving in the United States Army, he dedicated over forty years to the Evangeline and Jeff Davis School Boards as a classroom educator and supervisor.
He is survived by his three sons, Dwain Ardoin (Carla Esters) of Ragley, Jimmy Ardoin (Karen) of Vidrine, and Troy Ardoin (Stefanie) of Katy, Texas; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Louviere Ardoin; son, Keith Ardoin; parents, Jimmie and Anna Bertrand Ardoin; and six siblings.
