Jose Angel Ortiz passed away peacefully on Monday Mar. 18, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Northeast in Humble, Texas. He was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Houston, Texas. He married Idalia Rodriguez on Aug. 17, 1976. They raised two sons and a daughter. Jose worked for KTRK-TV channel 13 for 20+ years. He also was a professional painter for many years.
He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He always loved building things with his hands. Jose was a devoted husband, father, son and grandfather. He enjoyed spending most of his time with grandkids and a great grandson. He was also a member of Bethel Tabernacle. Jose was involved in church activities including singing in the choir, greeting and lending a helping hand to others.
Jose is survived by his wife of 47 years, Idalia Ortiz, oldest son Jose A Ortiz Jr, followed by David J Ortiz and daughter Brenda I Cadena. He leaves behind his three children including nine grandchildren, Andrew, Evelyn, A.J, Samantha, Julian, Natalie, Camila, Nathan, Sophia; and his great grandson, Karsyn.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Mar. 25, and continuing from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 26, at Bethel Tabernacle, 1020 FM-1960 E, Houston, Texas. Pastor David Fauss officiated. Interment began at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 26, at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Humble, Texas.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
