Shelton Lamar Weaver, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home located in Jennings.
He was born in Lake Charles. Following high school, he joined the United States Navy. He served his country from November 1958 through December 1962, and was stationed on the USS Gunston Hall during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an operator at Homco International where he retired after many years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Coleman Weaver; Mike Weaver and wife, Crystal, of DeQuincy, Liz Van Cleve and husband Tim, of Kingwood, Texas, Cassie Weaver of Kingwood, Texas and Greg Weaver and wife, Delaine, of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Louis E. Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evia Weaver; one sister; and four brothers.
Funeral service was led by Rev. Brent Keating at the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home Lake Charles on Friday, Jan. 5. Burial followed at Magnolia Cemetery.
