Jerry J. “Nonc” Manuel, Sr., 79, of Lake Charles died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 in a Welsh care facility.
He was born in Lake Charlse. In his earlier years he worked for Phillip’s Cash and Carry Lumber Yard and Calcasieu Grain Dryer. He later worked for Lake City Pest Control as an exterminator before becoming a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Calcasieu 400 where he was previously named Worshipful Master.
He is survived by his children, Jerry J. Manuel, Jr. (Kendra) of DeQuincy, Diana Lynn Manuel of Moss Bluff, and Jessica Lee Ferguson (Chris) of Austin, Texas; siblings, Ted Manuel of DeQuincy and Alice of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Manuel; parents, Edith and Edward Manuel; and nine siblings.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 4, in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed in Highland Memory Gardens.
