Arlene Miers

Arlene H Miers, 85, died at her home in Singer, on Saturday, Dec. 30 2023. She was born in Graceville, Minnesota and raised in Washington State before moving to Louisiana. She loved her church and church family at Singer Baptist Church.

She worked at Singer High School in the ‘70s. She also worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in DeRidder, in the ‘70s until it closed the end of 1980. She then worked for Dr J. Lane Sauls MD for five years handling insurance billing and then went to work for Hixson & Sons Insurance in 1985. She also worked for Liberty Life AGLA among others. After retiring for a year, she re-entered the work force as she missed the people, Hixson Funeral Home was her home once again.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rose Herberg; her husbands, Kenneth (Bo) Maul Sr. and Walter Miers Jr.; daughter-in-law, Carla Miers; and nephew, Brian Herberg.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth (Anne) Miers, David Miers, Jimmy (Rachel) Miers, Michael Miers; daughter, Lorraine (Don) Kerbow, all of Singer; bonus child, Sara (Sean) Miller of Baytown, Texas; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne Turner and Mary Lou Lageson; and brother, Charlie Herberg, all of Washington State.

Service was held Friday, Jan. 5, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Burial followed at Newlin Cemetery in Singer. Brother Jimmy Clarkand Shannon Cooley officiated.
