Patsy Simien

Patsy Lynn “McCoy” Simien, 64, of DeQuincy, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 in Baton Rouge.

She was born to her late parents, Albert Sr. and Ida McCoy on Dec. 26, 1958 in Lake Charles. She worked in healthcare a majority of her work career, fulfilling her passion of assisting the elderly. Her high fashion sense and lavish nails were always flawless, but her sassy personality is what stood out to anyone that came in contact with her. Cooking was her flair and she admired traveling. She showed great commitment with everything that she was called to do, but Praying was her most valuable gift, and she shared her ability to do so with anyone that needed it. Patsy took great pride in motherhood, as well as being the best mother and grandmother to her only child and grandchild.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tamika “Simien” Learson (Jerome) of Baton Rouge; siblings, John McCoy of DeQuincy, Don McCoy of Beaumont, Texas, Albert McCoy, Jr. of Baton Rouge, Lora Ann McClean of California; along with her precious granddaughter, Mikah Lyn Learson; three sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Chapper (Norman) of Lake Charles, Patricia Senegal (Nolton) of Rayne, and Patricia Frank (the late Gary Frank) of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Simien; parents; sister, Veronica McCoy; mother-in-law, Evelyn Duplantis-Frank; and in-laws, Ronald Frank and Gary Frank.

A Celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in DeQuincy, on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Durgan officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
