William Watkins

Funeral services celebrating the life of William Avery “Buckshot” Watkins were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Brothers Dean Hinton and David Cox officiating. Interment was in Hemphill Star Cemetery in Wilda.

Buckshot Watkins, 46, of Chopin, passed from this life Friday, May 5, 2023, at his residence.

Buckshot enjoyed hunting, any kind, especially hog hunting. During his High School years, he participated in the High School Team roping and cutting competitions, going to State Finals every year. He was a member of Louisiana High School Rodeo Association Alumni.

His parents, Johnnie Lee and Billie Watkins; grandparents, Lazine and Daisy Watkins and Billy and Lois Hirsch preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Travis Watkins and wife, Jamie; nephews, Trace Watkins and Jace Watkins; aunts, Pauline Watkins Butler and Evelyn Watkins White and husband, Willard; uncle, Bruce Hirsch and wife, Joy, and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve were Rod Watkins, Marlin Goynes, Gene Coleman, Brian Knight, David Butler and Bradon Hinton.

Honorary pallbearers were Trace Watkins, Jace Watkins, Willard White, Marvin Nichols, Russell Watkins, Brent Butler and Richard Dubois.
