Velma Bell Streams was born Mar. 27, 1945 and passed away Feb. 5, 2022.
Velma enjoyed traveling, cruising, gospel music and attending gospel concerts and she loved her dog, Rose. She was retired from DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. She was a faithful member of Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Scott Streams and wife, Melanie, Kenneth “Bubba” Streams and wife, Tina, Allen Streams and wife, Charlotte “Cookie” and Brad Streams and wife, Terri; eleven grandchildren; and six great greatchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Donnis Bell along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Doug Streams; parents, Johnny and Beulah Bell; brothers, Huey Shirley, Jackie Bell, Gerald Bell and Charles Bell; sisters, Marie Ragle, Lucille Taylor, Versie Bell, Marion Whittington and Pauline Ashworth.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. The visitation and funeral service was held at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church, 1427 Hargrove Loop, DeQuincy. Bro. Sonny Simpson, Bro. Harry Methvin and Pastor Paul Nugent officiated.
Pallbearers were Scott Streams, Kenneth Streams, Allen Streams, Brad Streams, Glenn Stains and Nathan Reeves. Honorary Pallbearers were Pat Ashworth, Bo Bell and Michael Streams. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
